Box feeders are devices combining a hopper and a mechanical conveyor in a single structure, whose task is to evenly and controllably feed bulk material to subsequent stages of the technological process.
The feed material is placed in the hopper, from where it is transported by a feeding mechanism – usually in the form of a chain, screw or vibrating conveyor – to the next part of the installation. The movement of the feeder can be regulated, which allows the capacity to be adjusted to current technological needs.
Application of box feeders
Its application is particularly important when working with materials that are difficult to feed – viscous, moist, clumped, or abrasive – which require a stable and controlled flow.
Construction
Depending on the design, box feeders can be equipped with additional components.
These components include, among others: speed control systems, weighing systems, material level sensors, and devices preventing bridging and clumping of raw materials.
Technical parameters
The technical parameters of the devices, their size, and equipment are selected individually in each case based on the technical parameters, available infrastructure, and the investor’s requirements.
We are able to produce any type of hopper.
Advantages of box feeders
They ensure stable and controlled feeding of materials, improving the safety and efficiency of technological processes.
Additional advantages include:
- Uniform material feeding
Continuous and stable dosing by eliminating sudden discharges that overload the equipment - Handling difficult materials
Faciliating the transport of moist, sticky, or clumping raw materials by loosening lumps and material bridges - Buffering capability
Serve as buffer tanks, synchronizing material delivery and collection - Capacity control
Allow easy control of feed speed, increasing precision and energy savings - Durability and simple design
Robust steel construction resistant to abrasive materials facilitates cleaning and maintenance - Installation safety
Downstream equipment protection from sudden surges in material volume, stabilizing the process and reducing the risk of failure
