Drum granulators are devices designed to form granules from bulk materials using the rotation of an inclined cylindrical drum.
During operation, the feed material is transported, compacted, and gradually shaped into granules through the drum’s rotational movement and the combined action of centrifugal and gravitational forces.
Granulation Process in Drum Granulators
The granulation process is supported by dosing a binding liquid (e.g., water, salt solutions, chemical binders), which increases particle adhesion and makes it possible to obtain spherical granules with the required mechanical strength.
Granulation parameters—such as drum inclination angle, rotational speed, material retention time, spraying intensity, and initial moisture content—can be precisely adjusted, allowing full control over the size and quality of the produced granules. Thanks to this, drum granulators ensure continuous operation, high throughput, and excellent process repeatability.
